I have spent two days writing this essay.

I'm so close to the end, I can taste it.

Growing up

"G says:
hey eina have you ever stopped and thought
holy shit we're adults now

(ಠ_ృ) - infernal, debonair negation says:
NO
NO
*SLAPS*
SSSHHHHH
THEY MIGHT HEAR US.
NEXT THING YOU KNOW THEY'LL EXPECT MEANINGFUL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE SOCIETY FROM US"

Bob Marley on how to love a woman

Saturday, May 7, 2011

“You may not be her first, her last, or her only. She loved before she may love again. But if she loves you now, what else matters? She’s not perfect - you aren’t either, and the two of you may never be perfect together but if she can make you laugh, cause you to think twice, and admit to being human and making mistakes, hold onto her and give her the most you can. She may not be thinking about you every second of the day, but she will give you a part of her that she knows you can break - her heart. So don’t hurt her, don’t change her, don’t analyze and don’t expect more than she can give. Smile when she makes you happy, let her know when she makes you mad, and miss her when she’s not there.”

- Bob Marley

Mardy Bum

I really appreciate the work of songwriters. Writing rhymes is hard enough but to fit the words into a song as well? Incredible.

Here's one of my favourite songs, Mardy Bum by the Arctic Monkeys. Not exactly poetry, but it does have a certain charm to it. Alex Turner's lyrics have a certain wit about them.

Now then Mardy Bum
I see your frown
And it's like looking down the barrel of a gun
And it goes off
And out come all these words
Oh there's a very pleasant side to you
A side I much prefer
It's one that laughs and jokes around
Remember cuddles in the kitchen
Yeah, to get things off the ground
And it was up, up and away
Oh, but it's right hard to remember
That on a day like today when you're all argumentative
And you've got the face on

Well now then Mardy Bum
Oh I'm in trouble again, aren't I
I thought as much
Cause you turned over there
Pulling that silent disappointment face
The one that I can't bare

Can't we laugh and joke around
Remember cuddles in the kitchen
Yeah, to get things off the ground
And it was up, up and away
Oh, but it's right hard to remember
That on a day like today when you're all argumentative
And you've got the face on

Yeah I'm sorry I was late
Well I missed the train
And then the traffic was a state
And I can't be arsed to carry on in this debate
That reoccurs, oh when you say I don't care
Well of course I do, yeah I clearly do
